Cookies

What are cookies?

Sadly no chocolate chips of any kind are involved! The cookies we are talking about are small text files that help organise and store browsing information. They are not programmes, and cannot damage your computer or any files you have on it, nor can they transmit viruses. Find out more about cookies in general here.

Our use of cookies:

Our site is designed using a content management system called Joomla. Joomla sets some cookies on your machine to make our site work properly, especially the interactive parts like search and menus.

We use cookies from StatCounter which tell us how many people visit the site, which pages they go onto, and whether they are first-time or returning visitors. They don't collect any information that identifies you as an individual, they simply deal with numbers and visitor patterns, which helps us to provide more of the content you want to see.

We also sometimes embed links or content from other websites including Google +1, Facebook and Paypal. These are clearly identified, but as a result, you may be presented with cookies from these sites. We cannot control the use of these third party cookies and you should check with the websites concerned for more information.

Controlling cookies:

You can find out more about StatCounter, and set your browser to refuse their cookies by clicking this link: http://statcounter.com/about/set-refusal-cookie/

Google ads on our pages use cookies which enable Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. There is more about this on http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/partners/ and http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/ads

To refuse other third party site cookies you will need to check with the originating sites. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at http://www.aboutcookies.org/ This site will also advise you about using your browser to automatically control which cookies you accept from any site you visit so you don't have to deal with them on a site by site basis.

If you want to ask any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us.
